Born on 20th August, 1967 in Tennessee of the USA, Crunchy Black also known by his birth name, Darnell Carton was an enthusiast in composing songs in his early days. He was one of the founding members of the rap group- ‘three 6 mafia’ starting very early at the age of 19. He has produced several well known raps despite several felony warrants and criminal history.
Early life and Family
Crunchy Black has been interested in composing rap and music from the age of 19, but he had to witness the separation of his parents which influenced him and has pushed him into doing illegal activities. He has been charged with felony warrants, accused of possessing cocaine and domestic violence due to which he has not graduated or nothing about his education is known.
His daughter passed away due to unfortunate reasons and not much is known about the issue or his personal life. He joined the group ‘three 6 mafia’ where he joined in 1995 and after making some record-breaking songs, he has decided to pursue music on his own in 2006, due to monetary issues in the group which he rejoined after being reincarnated as ‘Da mafia 6ix’. It was also said that few of his solo singles were released by his bandmates without his permission but they still managed to do well on the top charts.

He along with his group were nominated and won an Academy award for their song “It’s hard out here for a pimp” without a nomination in the Golden Globe awards. It happens to be the second hip hop song to win an Oscar after Eminem’s “Lose Yourself”.
His first solo album, which was allegedly released by Juicy J and DJ Paul without him permitting it, was on position 3 for billboard’s ‘heatseekers’ charts.
His second solo album, From me to you was also released in the same manner, yet managed several spots on billboard’s charts such as position 12 on hotseekers, 10 on top rap albums and many others as such.
