There's a time and place for everything, but "South Park" creators recently crossed the line with their senseless and distasteful entertainment. The animated show has left fans outraged after a recent episode was made, poking fun at Steve Irwin's death.

The latest episode of the satiric sketch, entitled "Hell On Earth 2006," shows the "Crocodile Hunter" attending a fancy dress party in Hell - along with the late Princess Diana and Hitler - with a stingray poking out of his bleeding chest. Irwin is then kicked out of the party by the Devil because he isn't in fancy dress.

The scenes have sparked outrage among fans and media regulators because they appear to ridicule the wildlife expert's shocking death in September, when a stingray's barb pierced his chest while he was snorkeling near the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

British broadcasting watchdog Mediawatch called the episode "grossly insensitive."

Mediawatch director, John Beyer, said, "This is bad taste. Steve Irwin's family is still grieving. To lampoon somebody's death like this is unacceptable."

"South Park" makers, Comedy Central, have defended the controversial episode, saying it is no different from their usual work.

A spokesman said, "It has offended people in the past and probably will again. Regular watchers would not be shocked."

I will never watch South Park either. I am fairly open and don't offend easily but this was over the top for me. Unless they apologize, I'll make sure not another dime of mine goes in the producers direction again in my life.

The show jesus hanging on a cross and mutilated in churchs. Steve Irwin was shown in the episode for 45 seconds It did not mock his death, This will never be proven in any court. Thus it is proven the media is a monster that spits on truth.

Omg, stfu, you people are so stupid. THEY MAKE FUN OF EVERYTHING. First of all, it's less than a minute long, and it doesn't make fun of him per se. Second of all, it's America folks, we should embrace our freedom of speech, there is no "crossing the line", you say what you feel is important. South park has shown things A MILLION times worse than this, especially when they deal with religions, but you know what, it's hilarious. The shows great and it's edgy. I'm watching every episode. P.S. If you think you two not watching the show again is gonna do anything, you're wrong, it's the num. 1 rated show on comedy central.

I love South Park and usually can care less what they do on the show. In fact, I laugh my arse off 99% of the time. But.... That is pretty bad. I mean he had kids and they lost their dad... So I think they coulda thought of something else to make us laugh.
November 3, 2006 - 06:54AM
They definitely crossed a line on this one. Not only that, but the network advertised a clip of it on regular daytime TV, and my kids saw it. They loved Steve Irwin and were very traumatized by the clip. I was more angry with the network for showing clips of it advertising the show during daytime hours where my kids could see it. It wasn't funny to run a clip like this when people are still mourning his loss.

if you STILL think south park is funny like the one who said "if you are offended you have a small i.q. or you are sanctimontious dolt" YOU ARE AN F*ING RETARD AND A JERK! Get over yourself, you are not as sophisticated and humor-wise as you think!

I cant't believe all the namecalling that's going on here, it really shows how the foundation of America is crumbling beneath our feet. The loss of Steve was a tragedy, and it was incredibly insensitive of SP to go and run such an episode so soon after his death. But either way, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and you people who've wasted all this time just calling names and insulting need to sit back and think about just what you've managed to accomplish with the energy you've spent - you may realize it could've been invested in a much wiser venture. But regardless, Steve was a great man, and will always be remembered.
December 26, 2006 - 12:31PM
me n my family loved steve he was the best he kept us entertained every day me n my sister grew up watchin him n my ma loved him
January 11, 2007 - 08:41PM
And yes, Steve WAS a great man, but its south park.

damn, get out of the US, its killing you all.
January 27, 2007 - 08:54AM
Ok, I have to say this because it actually is funny. Maybe it wasn't Steve Irwin, maybe it was Bill Meyer dressed up like him. But, yes, I agree South park has always been offensive, and I've never liked there show in the first place, this just majorly adds to my hate towards it. The show is dumb, watch one episode, and you'll know what I mean. The show is about a ton of 9 year old retards who deal with homosexual teachers everyday of their lives. And the "Blame Canada" show made no sense. The producer of that show need to go back to school, and not only learn edicate, but everythiing else also. This may be America, but if it is, why don't we keep its good name instead of giving it a new tastless attitude?
January 29, 2007 - 02:54PM
heh people learn some grammer. A lot of you are calling eachother dumb. but when you spell wrong it's pretty dang funny.

My point: Steve's a great guy. whether or not one may view South Park's morals, I think it would've been a bit nicer if they would have waited a year or so. Showing it So early was kind of harsh. Otherwise, well, that's what you can expect from them.

And honey, it's "Irwin" not "Irwen". It's obvious that you aren't a true fan of Steve's, so get over yourself and stop bein a hypocrite.

February 5, 2007 - 04:03AM
god you people are screwed up. firstly, america does not rule the world. 'this' is not america. not everyone on the freakin' internet is bloody american! secondly, learn some grammar. to the person who said that the producer of Blame It On Canada needed to get back to school, you need to go first. I have only ever seen one South Park show and that was when I was ten. I thought it was stupid and boring and I always will. Black humour I like, but South Park is not even funny unless you have an IQ of 3. Can you even count to three? The fact that Steve Irwin was the base of their jokes has nothing to do with it. It doesn't matter who it was they shouldn't have made such a stupid episode. Say some one you love dearly dies in a carcrash or gets trapped inside a building and burnt to death, no one would joke about their death at their funeral, would they? No one with any brains. To make such a crude joke so short after his death is wrong on so many levels.
February 11, 2007 - 11:53AM
south park rocks and it's funny. but we should stop KILLING KENNY!

March 4, 2007 - 12:24AM
If you like South Park, fine, but if not, look, if you consider what they did was in bad taste to Steve Irwin, the episode was made and released. The damage is done. I myself like South Park and saw the episode in which our crocodile hunter has appeared. I was not at all shocked. I told my brother that Parker and Stone will surely make fun of Steve Irwin. It came to no shock to me. I love cartoons and will continue to watch South Park. Did they go too far in rushing this kind of act? Maybe. Since I knew what was coming, I cannot say that I was upset what they did to Steve Irwin. I feel sad that he is gone, but I will not stop watching this cartoon in spite of that happened. If it upsets you, go to another channel.

March 14, 2007 - 08:59PM
who cares if he was "great" man, no one is above being made fun of, no one! the man pissed of dangerous animals for money, dangled his baby infront of an aligator, and that makes him a great man? if you dont think that of all the things that could have killed him, a sting ray which has killed only a handful of people in existance isnt funny, you need to be beat in the head with a funny stick. and by the way, no one cares about you, your crappy kids, and most of all steve irwins family. i hope they all get eaten by crocs!
March 17, 2007 - 03:41PM

March 17, 2007 - 03:42PM
i like south park but i will never watch that episode again
March 27, 2007 - 10:13PM
i like southpark and i like steve irwen. and what they did on that episode was really messed up. they dont care about anyones feelings. its gonna be funny when noone watches there show anymore. and then we can laugh at there expense. you guys that make south park need to watch what ya'll say and do. cause that right there wasnt right at all. hes got a wife and kids. (south park creators) they need to put there selves in that position and see how they would feel.maybe that would change there tune. and maybe not but still they had no right to down grade a good man.find other ways to make people laugh not at the expense of others.
April 3, 2007 - 04:12PM
Cool, a bias news report and over-sensitive people who watch a television programme they know will do this sort of thing and complain when it does. You're all so super smart. I'm super, super serial.

If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's not hard. Just let the insanely big fan base get on enjoying the show which has now made it up to Season 11. At least their spokesman put the media in its place.

You know you'll tune in for the next episode anyway.

It's naughty and you love it.
April 9, 2007 - 07:17PM
I was more offended by the sailors sucking up to the Iranian dictator. They should all meet Steve Irwin's fate.

I can understand South Park doing this, but what I can't understand is why the heck they did it right after he died. That is very low and poor taste. The poor family is still grieving and South Park decides to make a mockery of a very nice and caring man. I mean really, have some respect, wait for things to cool down, wait a year not a month. Better yet, don't wait at all, don't even make fun of him. Steve was such a compassionate loving man and father, and South Park goes and makes fun of him and mocks his death. Sad and very VERY low. I hope they feel ashamed.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
