Sheryl Crow's battle with breast cancer made her realize she needed a child in her life. The 46-year-old musician had some rethinking on her life when she suffered from the illness in 2005.

Crow, who had adopted a two-week old boy named Wyatt Steven Crow on May 12, 2007, says the urge to have a family grew stronger during that time of her life.

"I began the adoption process right after I finished my treatment. Wyatt came in May last year. I have always felt like I was meant to be a mom, but I had kept it from happening because I had believed that you are supposed to look for a family with a mum and a dad," Crow says.

"When my relationship fell apart just before I was diagnosed with cancer, I said, 'Right, I'm going to rethink this."

Crow had split with another cancer survivor Lance Armstrong in 2005.
