Madonna wants to help save the world from an ecological meltdown. The superstar believes using a special Kabbalah water will help dispose of nuclear waste. The music icon and her movie director husband Guy Ritchie have reportedly lobbied the British government and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) with the idea to use the "mystical" liquid to treat the radioactive by-products of nuclear power. It is claimed the fluid has already worked when used in Russia on nuclear waste.

The Kabbalah, a mystical off-shoot Judaism, teaches followers that water can obtain magical powers through "meditations and the consciousness of sharing."

"According to science, we aren't going to have a planet in about 50 years at the rate we're going with nuclear waste. I can write the greatest songs, make the most fabulous films and be a fashion icon and conquer the world but if there isn't a world to conquer, what's the point?" said Madonna.

Guy is also said to have contacted British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) about the water and written a series of letters on the topic to the company. When bosses looked into using the water in nuclear waste disposal operations, they could find no scientific proof for the couple's seemingly outlandish claims.

However, Paul Vallance-the director of communications for British Nuclear Group, the waste disposal arm of the BNFL-insists they would be open to listen to the couple's ideas. "If Mr Ritchie, or anyone else for that matter, has such a solution we would be more than happy to speak to them," he said.
