Zac Efron celebrated his 21st birthday with an exclusive party on Saturday night.

The "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" star enjoyed the gathering at Los Angeles' Pace restaurant with his "High School Musical" co-stars Ashley Tisdale and Monique Coleman, as well as his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens and pals including "Hairspray" star Amanda Bynes.

After the two-hour dinner at the prestigious eatery, Zac and Vanessa - who "helped plan the party" - took guests to a nearby hotel where they continued to celebrate.

KayCee Stroh, who plays cheerleader Martha Cox in the Disney movie franchise, revealed Zac was keen to have a low-key celebration for the landmark birthday.

She said: "We're definitely going to party it up. But he's that guy that would rather sit down with friends and have a good discussion than deal with the craziness."

However, KayCee joked: "I got him tinted windows for his present. That's what I gave Miley Cyrus for her birthday and he's getting them too!"
