While London Fashion Week continues to debate over the health of skinny models, English star Kate Winslet has lashed out at claims she is visiting a specialist in L.A. in an attempt to shed some pounds.
The actress, who is famous for her feminine curves and healthy approach to body image, has called in her lawyers over a story which was printed in Britain's Grazia magazine.
The article claims that Winslet, who is married to Academy Award winning director Sam Mendes, sought out the Chinese Healing Institute in Santa Monica, California, because of a sore neck and a desire to lose weight.
However, the outspoken actress has disputed the claims and is planning on filing a lawsuit against the publication.
Appearing at the BAFTA awards in London, where she was nominated in the best actress category, Winslet told a BBC radio interviewer, "I'm going to fight for myself. I don't want people thinking that I would ever go to a diet doctor, I would ever buy into that stuff. I never have done, I never will."
The star added, "I'm very upset. It's categorically untrue, it's a complete lie."
The four time Oscar nominated actress's rep, Sara Keene, echoed her clients comments.
She said, "Kate is angry and upset about it because it is an issue she feels very strongly about. She will be issuing legal proceedings. She wants to get the message out there."
Winslet's attorney's confirmed on Monday they were planning on filing a libel suit against the magazine.
In an industry that hails super-skinny starlets, such as Kate Bosworth and Nicole Richie, Winslet has been a breath of fresh air.
She continued, "I will continue to say what I feel about this issue of women being thin and emaciated. It's just out of control. I know I'm a role model to young women. It's a role that I take very, very seriously and I would never want anyone to ever think I was a hypocrite in doing something like going to a diet doctor, for goodness sake. I mean, it's really, really ridiculous."
Winslet is a mother of two and has previously spoken about fearing for her daughter when she enters womanhood.
