Official divorce proceedings are currently underway for one of Hollywood's biggest singing couples. Whitney Houston recently filed proper court documents to begin her divorce process from R and B singer Bobby Brown.

The "I'm Every Woman" singer - who announced that she was legally separating from her husband of 14 years, Bobby in September - has now started official proceedings at Orange County Superior Court.

Shortly after the split was announced, Bobby - who had a string of hits in the 90s including "Don't Be Cruel," "Humping Around" and "Every Little Step - said he was "really saddened by the whole situation."

The couple - who has a thirteen-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, together - tied the knot in the grounds of her five-acre, $11 million mansion in New Jersey on July 18 1992. However, Whitney and Bobby have had a turbulent relationship marred by stints in rehab and running battles with drugs and alcohol.

According to recent reports, the pair are divorcing because they "fought like cats and dogs."

One of Bobby's relatives says the marriage eventually collapsed after tensions in the relationship "spiraled out of control."

The source - a relative of Bobby's - revealed to People magazine, "They fought like cats and dogs. They would fight about what to eat for dinner, about who wasn't cleaning out the dishwasher. Stupid things."
