While many actresses are promoting anti-wrinkle cream and getting botox injections on the side, Virginia Madsen is doing the opposite.
The one-time Oscar nominee has openly admitted to using botox to rid her face of lines. In fact, Virginia is being so vocal she is promoting safe botox use.
Virginia, one of the stars of the acclaimed film "Sideways," is the new extra smooth face of Allergan, promoting safe botox use.
The actress spoke at a New York press luncheon saying, "As I started to talk about it and as it ended up in print there was such an overwhelming response from friends and family, lots and lots of actors, people on the street. They were surprised that I looked so 'normal.' That is how it should be. I don't have that sort of frozen look that we have talked about."
The partnership with Allergan is about informing woman of safe injections, avoiding 'botox parties' which can be dangerous, and showing that it is possible to lightly freeze time.
Virginia continued, "I knew that I could join them, and I could turn my openness about my treatments into a potential call to action for people who were interested in maintaining their looks, but [who] need to know how to do this in the right way. I think a lot of people have lost sight of that with the growing popularity of these products. I don't think anyone would ever consider having their eyes examined anywhere else but in a doctor's chair. It is very similar."
The star's openness about the cosmetic procedure is a far cry from most actresses who deny attempts to turn back the clock. However, Virginia insists that she is not trying to recapture her youth, just slightly halt it.
She said, "I am not using these injectables to look 25. I don't want to be 25. I just want to look like me. I am 45, and I am in the best shape that I have ever been in my life."
