Susan Markowitz, the mother of the murdered teenager depicted in the film "Alpha Dog," has attempted suicide three times since the controversial film was released.
The film, starring Justin Timberlake, Sharon Stone and Bruce Willis, follows Jesse James Hollywood and his gang when they allegedly murdered, Nicholas, an innocent teenage boy over his brother's drug debt.
Mrs. Markowitz and her husband, Jeff, have been vocally opposed to the film. Now, Mr. Markowitz says, it is causing them even more harm.
He said, "She is so tortured by what happened that she has tried to take her own life. The last thing that either of us want is to see this picture. How would any loving parent feel about a Hollywood movie that glamorizes their son's death and allows celebrities to cash in on a brutal, evil murder?"
Director Nick Cassavetes says that he does not want to make the tragedy any more painful for the Markowitz's. He said, "The last thing we would want to do is prejudice a trial or bring unnecessary suffering to anyone. I don't believe this movie does that. Real life is way more important than movies."
