Lenny Kravitz is reportedly set to become the new frontman for U.S. rockers Velvet Revolver.

Lenny, 44, has been spotted in the studio with the band - which features former Guns 'n' Roses guitarist Slash - who have been looking for a high profile replacement to appear on their new record since parting company with original singer Scott Weiland in April.

Velvet Revolver's members are "relieved" Scott Weiland is now no longer part of the group, according to lead guitarist Slash.

The band had announced Weiland's departure after their show in Amsterdam. Slash reveals the band is glad Weiland, who is reuniting with former band Stone Temple Pilots, has left their band.

Amy Winehouse is proving to be really popular with rock groups. Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash believes the troubled "Rehab" singer carries the "torch for rock 'n' roll."

He says, "Amy's cool, she's carrying the torch for rock 'n' roll.
