Brad Pitt spent a week partying to get over a ''stressful few months''.
The 49-year-old actor has been under a lot of strain following his fiancée Angelina Jolie's double mastectomy surgery and promotional duties for his new film 'World War Z', and was given a reprieve to enjoy a holiday with his male friends in Europe by the 'Salt' actress.
A source told The Sun newspaper: ''Brad chose to get on the booze in France and Italy once Angelina told him to take a break.
''She could tell he needed to let his hair down after a stressful few months, so told him to go and have a boozy week with his mates and get it out of his system.''
The hunky star is said to have enjoyed an alcohol-fuelled stay in the south of France, where he spent several days in Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's luxurious home and enjoyed nights out with U2 stars Bono and Larry Mullen.
Brad also made use of his friend George Clooney's famous Lake Como villa in Italy while the 'Descendants' star was away filming in England.
The week-long getaway may be the actor's final hurrah before he ties the knot to Angelina, 38, later this year.
The couple - who raise six children together; Maddox, 11, Pax, nine, Zahara, eight, Shiloh, six, and four-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - are rumoured to be planning a summer wedding at their French estate, Château Miraval.
