Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have been designing their wedding rings.

The couple - who announced their engagement last year - have been working with jewellery designer Neil Lane on unique bands for their nuptials.

A source told Life and Style Weekly magazine: ''In the past few weeks they've met with Neil to start working on their wedding jewellery. They want classic but unique wedding bands.''

Miley, 20, and Liam, 23, are busy planning their big day and intend to have an intimate ceremony for just their closest friends and family.

The insider added: ''They're inviting just their closest friends and family. They're writing their own vows, they'll be silly and sweet.''

The former 'Hannah Montana' star has previously admitted she wants a low-key wedding.

Miley insists she hates the attention her celebrity status brings and a big ceremony would bring her the same type of attention.

The 'Can't Be Tamed' singer - whose father is Billy Ray Cyrus - said: ''I can't even get coffee without a million paparazzi following me, so I don't know why anyone thinks I'm going to have this huge, extravagant wedding. That is so not who I am.''
