Ricky Gervais has become a great great uncle.

The 'An Idiot Abroad' star has revealed his brother's grandson had a baby boy called Bobbie today (29.12.12).

The 51-year-old comedian shared the news with his fans on Twitter, saying: ''I became a great great uncle today, BYW. My brother's kid's kid's kid. See. I told you I was working class. :) Happy 0th birthday Bobbie.''

In another picture to a fan, who congratulated him on his family's latest arrival, Ricky admitted his new great nephew is ''lovely''.

Despite being enamoured with the new baby, the actor previously revealed he and his long-term Jane Fallon decided not to have children together, within the first few years of their relationship after meeting as students 30 years ago.

He said: ''We never wanted to be parents, with all that entails: the loss of freedom, total dependency. I didn't have a work ethic for such a long time. Imagine if I had a child like me? I didn't start earning until I was 36.''

He later admitted: I'm the sort of person who has to check three times that I've shut the door, so I'd probably stare at a kid all day to check it was breathing.''

The funnyman has also once insisted he will never marry despite being madly in love with Jane.

He said: ''I don't see the point. We are married for all intents and purposes, everything's shared, and actually our fake marriage has lasted longer than a real one... but there's no point in us having an actual ceremony before the eyes of God because there is no God.''
