Tulisa Contostavlos is penning her first novel.

The 'Young' singer - who recently released her first autobiography 'Honest' - will be basing her debut fiction piece on people she knows, and is inspired by crime writer Martina Cole.

She said: ''I'm writing a novel. Let's say there are elements of the book based on real-life characters I know.

''It's definitely not '50 Shades of Grey'. It's exciting for me. It's something that I wanted to do with the same publishers as my autobiography. I do a lot of reading. I like crime novels and my number one author is Martina Cole.''

It is not the only new area the singer and UK 'X Factor' judge wants to break into either - she has also set her sites on a career in Hollywood as an actress.

According to the Daily Star newspaper, she said: ''I want to do more acting. It's fun to be someone else. A great start would be doing a Brit flick.''

Tulisa began her career in urban band N-Dubz alongside Fazer and cousin Dappy.
