Debbie Reynolds was hospitalised over the weekend.

The 80-year-old actress is being treated at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai hospital following a bad reaction to a medication she was taking.

Her representative told TMZ: [Debbie was hospitalised] due to an adverse reaction she experienced to a medication she was currently taking.''

It is not clear what the medication was or the reaction sustained by the actress.

However, as a result of her hospitalisation, the legendary movie star has been forced to cancel her upcoming appearances for the next three months.

Debbie's spokesperson said she is still in hospital but already showing signs of improvement.

Last year Debbie - who has just finished filming Liberace biopic 'Behind the Candelabra' - auctioned off more than 400 pieces of Hollywood memorabilia from her private collection, including costumes worn by Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Judy Garland, and she recently admitted she was ''very sad'' not to be able to fulfill her dream of opening her own museum.

The actress - whose collection was valued at over $50 million - said: ''It's still very sad to think about.

''I spent my life gathering my collection and I always wanted my own museum. But it was a dream, and dreams don't always come true, only in songs and movies.''
