Jake Gyllenhaal is a ''sensitive'' guy.
The 31-year-old actor was praised for his gentle nature by filmmaker David Ayer, who said he chose Jake for the lead role in his police thriller 'End of Watch' because he has a ''great heart''.
Speaking at the premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday (18.09.12), he told Celebuzz: ''Jake has a great heart, he's a fantastic guy and that's exactly why I wanted him to do this role.
''I didn't want the standard issue leading man kind of guy. I wanted somebody with soul.''
Jake previously claimed he has become a different man since he shot the movie.
He said: ''Dave told me right off that this was going to affect my soul. 'Friends are going to say, That's the Jake I've always known, but somewhere deep inside, you'll know otherwise.'''
He also said the film inspired him to go with his gut.
He revealed: ''Every journey starts with fear. And I could say that's what I want to embrace now. A real experience. And I want, overall, to trust what I know is right. There have been many times when I haven't. It's what I'm asking myself: Where is the line? What is the line? There's so much context, it can be almost impossible to find.''
