Justin Bieber has been offered a trial with a hockey team.

The 'Baby' hitmaker impressed National Hockey League farm team the Bakersfield Condors - who are an amateur side - with his skills and they have reached out to see if he would like to take up the sport for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Matt O'Dette said in a statement. ''Very rarely do you see this combination of skill and toughness. We share a common Canadian heritage since we both hail from Ontario.

''I've scouted some video of him online skating with my hometown team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and I think he could provide some elusive speed up front for us. Plus, he's a right-handed shot, which we've been looking to add.''

Meanwhile, the team's General Manager Matt Riley told E! News he has contacted Justin's manager Scooter Braun and is ''hopeful'' he will consider their offer.

It could be a welcome change of scene for Justin who recently revealed he wants to be known as more than a teen heartthrob.

The 18-year-old singer said: ''I feel like I just don't want to be another teen heartthrob. I just think that just annoys me. To think that's what people will - will think of me - or, like, I just want to prove people wrong.''
