Alanis Morissette is ''horrified'' to have a day dedicated to her in her hometown.

The 'Ironic' hitmaker - who has 20-month-old son Ever with husband Mario 'Souleye' Treadway - feels uncomfortable with the fact that town officials in Ottawa, Canada, celebrate her pop achievements every March.

She said: ''Yes, 8th March is Alanis Morissette Day in my hometown Ottawa. I'm horrified.

''But it's also International Women's Day, so I'm not stepping on any toes, because I am a woman...''

If she got to choose how the day was marked, Alanis would want it to begin with a cocktail and there would always be good weather.

She told Stylist magazine: ''[What would I do?] Make everyone have a mimosa in the morning. Followed by all-day snacks and plenty of sunshine.''

The 38-year-old singer also admitted she wished she had asked for more ''support'' at the height of her fame, because she struggled to cope with the intense interest in her life after she released her worldwide hit album 'Jagged Little Pill' in 1995.

Alanis - who has previously claimed she suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder because of the LP - said: ''Everything was about, 'I can do it myself.' It completely dismissed the idea of connecting with each other. I wish I'd asked for more support.''
