Simon Cowell has reportedly spent $500,000 to upgrade 160 'X Factor' USA contestants to a nicer hotel.
Apparently the media mogul treated the talent show finalists in Miami, Florida where those who made it past the audition rounds are competing for 32 coveted spots.
Sources told website TMZ.com that the man who created the show decided he wanted to reward the contestants for making it so far in the competition.
So instead of checking them into a regular accommodation, he booked them into the exclusive Mondrian Miami South Beach Hotel.
He also apparently promised to cover everyone's meals during the audition process which brings the total bill to around the half a million mark.
Simon recently described Britney Spears ''as sweet as a lemon'' when judging 'The X Factor' USA.
The 'Toxic' singer has just recently finished filming auditions for the second series of the pop star search show, and he says she is not afraid to hold back on contestants who are not up to standard.
Speaking at a press conference in Miami, Simon - who himself has been dubbed 'Mr Nasty' for his cutting comments on the UK version of the show - said: ''Britney is quite mean, which I think you will discover.''
