Justin Hawkins now parties ''like a five year old'' after recovering from cocaine addiction.
The Darkness frontman - who has been clean and sober of the drug for six years - admits he does still like to party but does it in a much more restrained way now than how he used to.
He said: ''I don't see us as a heavy metal or glam band. We try different things to suit specific songs. There's more energy in the band now.
''If anything, we have to hold back now because the shows are so physical. We still have parties on the road, but now they're the kind of party a five year old might have.''
The group - made up of Justin, his brother Dan Hawkins, Ed Graham and Frankie Poullain - are soon due to support Lady Gaga on the UK leg of her 'Born This Way' tour and Justin admits they were very keen to sign up when she asked.
He told the Daily Mail newspaper: ''As soon as she asked us, we said yes. She is the greatest pop star of the 21st century. She's always in character. Her persona is in interviews can be weird, but in a great way.''
