Miley Cyrus has had a quote from President Theodore Roosevelt tattooed on her arm.

The 19-year-old singer-and-actress showed off her new body art yesterday (10.07.12), with the words from the former US leader's 1910 speech clearly visible on her left forearm.

The tattoo reads: ''So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.''

It seems Miley - who is engaged to Liam Hemsworth - has been looking to the past for inspiration quite a lot recently, as she quoted famed scientist Albert Einstein on her twitter page earlier this week.

She wrote: ''I love Mondays! If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.''- Albert Einstein (sic)''

The 'Last Song' star has 14 other tattoos on different parts of her body and has previously revealed all her inkings have significant meanings behind them.

She said: ''It really doesn't hurt if you're thinking about the meaning. I could never get a meaningless tattoo, but I think that if you're doing something that's important, that's significant in your life, it takes some of the pain away.''
