Florence Welch took on the role of DJ at the after-party of the 'Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations' Costume Institute Gala in New York last night (08.05.12).
The 'Shake It Out' singer acted fast when the decks at the bash at the Standard Hotel in Manhattan burst into flames and quickly created a playlist on her iPod for the stars in attendance to party to.
Florence's choice of tracks were so popular they sparked a dance battle between Beyonce Knowles and her friend Gwyneth Paltrow.
A source told The Sun newspaper: ''Without Flo the party would have been a flop as it would have taken hours to rig up another set of decks.''
Earlier in the evening, Florence, 25, attended the Costume Institute Gala - which is known as the Met Ball and is considered to be the Oscars of the fashion industry - at the Metropolitan Museum of Art but drew criticism on the red carpet for her silky, white-tiered gown.
The event attracted a galaxy of stars such as Kristen Stewart, Cameron Diaz, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Justin Timberlake and his fiance Jessica Biel.
Rihanna was also a guest but reportedly angered Vogue editor Anna Wintour by keeping her waiting for 40 minutes to make her arrival.
The 'You Da One' singer spent two hours in her hotel suite having a manicure and missed her spot on the red carpet after Anna, 62, waited to make her grand entrance and then had the carpet closed.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''She missed her slot on the red carpet and left Anna in a frenzy. The pair had a heated conversation during the champagne reception.
''Rihanna will not be invited to any of her future events any time soon.''
