George Michael reportedly wants to collaborate with Adele.

The 48-year-old 'Careless Whisper' singer - who battled a near-fatal bout of pneumonia last year - struck up a friendship with Adele, 24, after presenting her with the Best Album Brit award for her record '21' last month.

Now fighting fit and back in the recording studio, George is said to be deep in talks with the 'Someone Like You' star about joining forces.

A source said: ''George is working on his album for the first time since his life-threatening illness and he's in great shape.

''It is no secret that he adores Adele. He even left his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz in Australia for three days while he flew in to present Adele with her Brit.

''They've become pals since then and are talking about doing something together.

''He is very supportive of British talent and he likes it that Adele keeps it real.''

Adele is said to be just as keen to work with George - who counts Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Mary J. Blige amongst his past collaborators.

The source told the Daily Mirror: ''Adele has been an admirer of George's tunes for as long as she can remember and was so touched that George presented her Brit award.''
