Antonio Banderas once gave Salma Hayek two pet monkeys.
The 'Puss in Boots' stars have been friends since they worked on 1995 movie 'Desperado' together and the actor has revealed he shocked Salma by handing her two simian friends 18 years ago.
He told German newspaper Bild: "Around 18 years ago I gave Salma two monkeys. That's true!"
Salma - who has a four-year-old daughter Valentina with husband Fracois-Henri Pinault - added: "Before I had my child, animals were my life. I slept with four dogs in my bed. They (The monkeys) lived in an open cage and one of them always ran out and was eaten by a cat in the end. The other one died of lovelornness."
Antonio - who is married to Melanie Griffith - loved working with his friend on the animated movie, saying: "She was great. She is someone that I love - we have been friends for so long - so the whole ride was different."
Salma also revealed that her daughter is a huge fan of Antonio, explaining: "This movie couldn't have come at a better time because now I have my daughter. She loves it. It's very exciting for her being on tour with us and seeing everything. Sometimes we have the stuffed animals walking around. She loves being around Antonio. She's in love with him."
