Anya Hindmarch believes celebrity designers are an asset to the fashion industry.
The accessories designer thinks famous faces such as Victoria Beckham, Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and Gwen Stefani - who have all made successful forays into the fashion business after establishing successful careers in the spotlight -can use their knowledge as a consumer to know what would sell well, though she acknowledges they may need some help.
Speaking at Red's Hot Women Awards 2011 in association with euphoria Calvin Klein at the St. Pancras Renaissance hotel in London yesterday (23.11.11), she exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I think celebrities learn quite a lot from being a customer, so I often think it makes them qualified.
"Obviously there is a difference between a pattern cutter and a designer but I think it's great."
Anya has a number of high profile fans but she claims she doesn't care who sports her accessories as long as they "look great with it".
She explained: "Sienna Miller always looks great, or Elle Macpherson or Kate Moss or whoever, they all wear my designs differently which is nice.
"However, I'm not so into celebrity. It's more about someone who loves it and cherishes it and looks great with it. Everyone wears them differently."
