John Travolta's vintage Mercedes Benz car has been stolen.
The 'Swordfish' actor was reportedly left stranded in Santa Monica, California, yesterday (18.0.9.11) after a thief took the 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL – worth up to $100,000 – as he paid a ten minute visit to a nearby dealership.
John returned to the Jaguar dealer - where he had been viewing other cars - and waited for the police so they could make a crime report.
However, according to website TMZ, no suspects have been identified and no witnesses to the crime have come forward.
Motoring enthusiast John, 57, has a large collection of cars including a Rolls Royce, and a Jaguar XJ6 as well as vintage Ford cars.
He said in 2007: "I have a 55, 56 and 57 Thunderbird – American Fords in the great old tradition. I love the fact that they could achieve speed and distance with such style. I don't use them for long journeys any more, but to just enjoy the drive."
One of John's most famous roles, Danny Zuko in 'Grease', saw him race a classic 1948 Ford car named Greased Lightning in the film. He is also a keen pilot, holding a flying license since 1974 and owning his own Boeing 707 aircraft.
