Robbie Williams' father was surprised by his wedding.
The 'Angels' singer tied the knot with long-term girlfriend Ayda Field at their Beverly Hills home earlier this month and his dad Pete Conway says the "unconventional" ceremony couldn't have gone any better.
Pete said: "It wasn't fraught. It was very relaxed and lovely. Robbie was emotional. It was a big day.
"I didn't make a speech - it wasn't very conventional. We just had a lovely time.
"It was organized quite quickly. It was a total surprise to everyone - even me - but it was a nice surprise."
The veteran club singer also dismissed claims that his teetotal son - who has a history of drug and alcohol abuse - had banned wine, beer and champagne from his nuptials.
Pete told The Sun newspaper: "There was alcohol and lots of it. I did have a drink. We certainly toasted the bride and groom. You can't make everyone give up. We drank and had a party. It's great and it was a wonderful day."
Robbie and Ayda, 31, have previously revealed they chose for the 36-year-old star not to have a best man, while the couple's eight dogs acted as bridesmaids.
The pair took the decision to exclude others from their wedding party in a bid to keep their plans secret for as long as possible.
