Charlie Sheen has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault.
The 'Two and a Half Men' actor appeared in court in Aspen, Colorado, yesterday (02.08.10), where he was sentenced to 30 days in rehab and given a 30-day suspended prison sentence after agreeing a plea bargain deal on charges relating to a domestic incident with wife Brooke Mueller last Christmas Day (25.12.09).
He was also sentenced to three months probation and must complete 36 hours of domestic violence counseling.
In a statement after sentencing, the 44-year-old star said: "I'm very grateful to the court and to the people of Pitkin County. I look forward to complying with the court's decision, getting on with my life and putting this behind me."
The actor's lawyer Yale Galanter was pleased with the court's decision, saying: "Charlie got a great sentence, and I am privileged to have been able to do this for him."
Charlie is due to return to filming 'Two and a Half Men' today (03.08.10) and the lawyer says his client is looking forward to the future with Brooke and their 16-month-old twin sons Bob and Max.
Yale said: "I am not a fortune teller so I can't be sure what will happen between them. But Charlie goes back to work tomorrow. He wants to move on with his life in a positive way."
As well as Bob and Max, Charlie also has daughters Cassandra, 26, Sam, six, and five-year-old Lola from previous relationships.
