Matthew McConaughey thinks life begins at 40.

The 'How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days' actor reached the milestone age yesterday (04.11.09) and says he is finally settling down and looking forward to life with girlfriend Camilla Alves, son Levi, 16 months and the forthcoming new addition to their family.

He wrote on his MySpace page: "The 30s were good to me and I'm really looking forward to my 40s, 'cause I'm a late bloomer. Got everything I need for a perfect 40th... a happy and healthy lady, son, and another baby on the way."

Matthew, 40, celebrated his birthday with family and friends until the early hours of the morning, enjoying a surprise performance by country musician Jamey Johnson.

He added: "There were some epic stories told, a lot of laughs and definitely some roasting. Somehow! No blood or glass broken.

"Going to spend some more time with my family and friends today, grillin' steaks and sippin' beers, celebratin' more to live for ... and again thanks for all the b-day wishes."
