Rob Lowe is a protective father.
The 'Invention of Lying' star doesn't let his two sons - Matthew, 16, and 13-year-old John - join him when he is participating in his favorite pastime of heliskiing, which involves being taken to a remote mountain top and dropped to ski down without the aid of a trail.
Speaking about his love of the activity, he said: "It's doing something very dangerous. I have not taken the kids.
"They want to go. That's a little bit of a discussion at home. My wife is like, 'Are you crazy?' I think we're going to have to wait until they are at least old enough to shovel me out."
Although he won't let his sons participate in his daredevil hobby, Rob - who is married to Sheryl Berkoff - recently let his boys accompany him to the Emmy Awards, much to their delight.
Rob, 45, told US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: "They were happy to attend because they've never done anything like that before, because we kept them away from Hollywood until they were old enough to sort of get it.
"They were just thrilled that we had better seats than the guys from 'Entourage'. I was like, 'Yeah, daddy's still got his fastball.' They're my best buds for sure."
