Chris Noth is engaged.

The 'Sex And The City' actor - who plays Carrie Bradshaw's husband Big in the film versions of the TV series - recently proposed to his partner Tara Lynn Wilson, and they are now planning their big day.

The couple broke news of their engagement at a fashion show over the weekend, where Tara was sporting a large diamond engagement ring.

A source said: "It all happened very recently. This is the first time they've appeared in public with her wearing that huge diamond."

Further details of the impending nuptials have not been released.

Chris, 54, and Tara have been dating since 2004. They have 19-month-old son Orion together.

Chris is currently shooting the 'Sex And The City' movie sequel in New York.

The plot of the new film is a closely-guarded secret, although it has been claimed it will see Big and Carrie struggling financially due to the worldwide recession and have to move in with Charlotte York Goldenblatt - played by Kristin Davis - and her husband Harry.
