Nobody recognizes Britain's Prince Edward. The 45-year-old son of Queen Elizabeth - often referred to as the "spare" royal as he is unlikely to ever ascend to the throne - was completely ignored by locals and tourists during a recent holiday to the Isle of Scilly, off the coast of Cornwall.
The Earl of Wessex, his wife Sophie and their children Princess Louise, five, and Prince James, 18 months, spent 10 days enjoying the sun at Edward's brother Prince Charles' bungalow.
But despite their royal status, no one paid any attention to the family, even though a team of bodyguards followed them everywhere they went.
A source told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "It was a very low-key business. They only indication that royalty were on the islands was the presence of security personnel."
Edward was not always so ignored. British TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson recently revealed her "excitement" when a photo of her and the royal made the front page of several newspapers in 1989.
She said: "I did not sleep with Prince Edward. There were a few dates, a bit of a slap and tickle."
"The next day I was at the station taking the train in from Slough to Paddington and saw my face on the front page and nearly fainted. I was very excited but I didn't know what it meant. I certainly wasn't anything more than a friend of a friend at that stage."
