Britain's Prince Harry is getting motorcycling lessons from a champion racer. Sunshine Coast rider Chris Vermeulen was stunned when he received a call from Buckingham Palace inviting him to visit London to meet the prince, a keen bike fan.
Queensland-born Chris revealed: "Harry really enjoys his riding and he wants to get on the track. Obviously there are security issues with him being out on the circuit with a lot of people."
"He wants to get out on the track and really feel a bike at speed so he asked if we could organize doing some lessons. We're looking into getting some circuits organized and where it fits in for both of us."
The MotoGP rider hopes to make the journey to England next year.
He added: "I've been invited down to their father's house to see the gardens, obviously Prince Charles, and next year to have tea with the Queen at her garden party, so it's quite good really."
Chris realized Harry was a fan of his last Christmas after seeing a picture of the prince perched on a Triumph motorcycle with one of his replica helmets.
The racer invited the prince to watch him compete at the British MotoGp and presented him with the helmet he wore during the race, as well as another to give to Harry's brother Prince William and a third to be donated to charity.
