Britain's late Princess Diana was Paris Hilton's idol. The hotel heiress says she was inspired by the princess - who died in a car crash in August 1997 - but now knows she couldn't live the life Diana did as she was constantly hounded by paparazzi.

Paris, who is often followed by photographers, said: "I always looked up to Princess Diana and all these women, and now I could never be like that. I want to have a family. I want to be normal. I want to be happy."

Diana - who had two sons, Princes William and Harry, with ex-husband Prince Charles - had constant media attention throughout her life and the paparazzi were blamed for her death as they chased the car she was being driven in until it crashed.

This is not the first time Paris has spoken out about her love for the British royal family.

Last year, she revealed she wanted to date Prince William after meeting him on a night out.

Talking about the future king - who has been in a relationship with Kate Middleton for around five years - Paris said: "I'd be more than happy to date William - so long as he ditches the mousy girlfriend. I couldn't believe it when I met him. He was awesome and really hot."
