Penelope Cruz always expects to be "fired" when starring in a film. The 35-year-old actress - who won this year's Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Maria Elena in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" - admits she lacks confidence in her abilities as an actress.
She told Britain's Psychologies magazine: "Every time I make a film, I feel like it's my first time. I always think they could fire me."
"I've ruined my own happiness and created problems with my friends because of this tendency. It takes discipline for me to stop worrying."
Penelope - who is dating actor Javier Bardem - added she plans to put her career on hold to have children at some point, but feels unable to commit fully to being a mother at the moment.
She explained: "I have a tendency to become a mother to everyone around me. My brother and sister are always complaining that I'm too protective."
"I want to have babies one day but not right now. When I do it I want to do it really well. I want it to be my best project in life. I don't know if I believe in marriage. I believe in family, love and children."
