Sports star Martina Navratilova is being sued. The former tennis star's second long term partner has filed a lawsuit to protect her rights in a domestic partnership. This will be her second "divorce" and sure to be a nasty one.
Toni Layton was the 8 year partner and lover of Navratilova, but says she was basically dumped and thrown out of the couple's shared residence without notice. Layton is now claiming that Navratilova said she would offer her lifelong support, with financial backing included since Layton left behind her own career to help support Navratilova's comeback and transition into broadcasting.
Layton also claims she was evicted from the residence with only the clothes on her back. She was not allowed to take any personal belongings, access to any joint assets or allowed to take any of her pets with her.
Layton's rep, Gary Smith stated, "While being denied access to her personal belongings for 15 months, Layton tried, in vain, to settle the partnership amicably. Layton wanted very much to avoid any attached strings, as well as avoid wasting money unnecessarily on legal fees."
Layton has now hired powerhouse attorney Ray Rafool. Rafool filed papers in a Sarasota court on Wednesday, June 24. Rafool is also currently representing Linda Hogan, the ex-wife of Hulk Hogan, in another high-priced, drag-down divorce in the celebrity world.
