Kate Winslet is taking a break from films. The Oscar-winning actress thinks she is so overexposed she has no choice but to take some time off.

The 33-year-old star said: "I think I have to take a holiday. I'm sick of me and I'm sure everybody else is too!"

However Kate - whose last two movies received Academy Award nominations - admits she won't be able to stay away from acting completely.

She revealed to Britain's Hello! magazine: "I would love to do some theatre. It would be a good challenge. I need to keep scaring myself and that would sufficiently scare me. Maybe a musical or something completely different."

Kate - who is married to director Sam Mendes with who she raises two children, daughter Mia, eight, and five-year-old son Joe - says she has never felt happier with her body since leaving her 20s behind.

She added: "I don't feel self-conscious any more. I think turning 30, you're allowed to be less obsessed with how you look. I really like being 33."

"I don't think I look older or younger than I am. I think I look my age. Also, while I feel very joined at the hip with my family. I also feel independent. I feel like I can stand on my own two feet."
