Johnny Depp is shocked by his success. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor - who shot to fame in "Nightmare on Elm Street" in 1984 - is "deeply grateful" for the work he is offered and constantly worries his career will end suddenly.

He said: "I never dreamed I would get this far and stay around for so long. In fact I always wonder when I'm going to be rumbled and sent packing. It could happen tomorrow, so I'm just deeply, deeply grateful for the jobs I get."

"Who knows. I might still end up playing guitar in some bar someplace. Or pumping gas? I honestly believe it's a miracle I still get jobs."

Johnny is not the only major star to doubt his talents.

"Harry Potter" actor Daniel Radcliffe has previously claimed his success was down to good fortune.

He said: "I got where I am by dumb luck. You only deserve what you have if you work hard. I know most actors hoped for a job, and then found themselves between jobs. For me, it was a great job at 11. I'm a person who got lucky very young."

Scarlett Johansson also believes her Hollywood stardom is thanks to her hard work as well as her talent.

She said: "I feel incredibly lucky to have had success, because I've seen and I know so many talented people that never get the opportunity. But I am a big believer that putting in the actual hours is kind of what makes a successful career and a lot of luck, too, of course."
