Britain's Sarah Ferguson is facing questioning by Interpol. The Duchess of York may be quizzed by the International Crime Police Organization over a TV documentary she made last year which exposed the poor conditions in state-run Turkish orphanages.
Turkish authorities are furious the duchess went undercover in the show, which showed children - some of whom were disabled - left tied to beds by staff.
They insist Sarah and her daughter Princess Eugenie - who also featured in the program, and wept when she saw the conditions some children lived in - broke privacy laws, and have since complained to international police.
Social Affairs Minister Nimet Cubukcu told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "It is very clear that Mrs Sarah Ferguson has bad intentions. She is obviously in a campaign to blacken Turkey's name."
In a statement issued at the time of the show - which was shown in U.K. television network ITV - Sarah's spokeswoman said: "The Duchess of York has no political motivation. This is all about the welfare of children."
Sarah wore a black wig and a headscarf during a visit to the Saray orphanage, near Turkish capital Ankara, where more than 700 disabled children are housed.
During the show, she said: "It made me so angry. My eyes have been opened."
A Tonight spokesman said: "We maintain our covert filming was in the public interest."
