Britain's Princess Beatrice is teetotal. The royal - who recently had her $22,300 BMW stolen because she left her keys in the ignition - has quit alcohol in an attempt to "get healthy."

A friend said: "Beatrice was never a big drinker but she has decided to stop drinking altogether. But it has nothing to do with what happened. She has just decided to get healthy."

"She was celebrating Eugenie passing her driving test last Tuesday but, while her sister and mother were having a celebratory glass of bubbly, Beatrice refused to have a sip."

The 20-year-old granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth was reportedly extremely embarrassed about the theft of her treasured car while she was in a London shop last month. The vehicle was found in south London two weeks later but it is said to be damaged beyond repair.

The friend told Britain's The Daily Mail newspaper: "It was found but it's a write-off."

But while Beatrice is carless, her younger sister Princess Eugenie is "over the moon" after passing her recent driving test.

The 18-year-old royal had hired an instructor from the Metropolitan Police to ensure she passed the test.

A source said: "Eugenie did her test around the Windsor and Slough area and was over the moon when she was told she had passed."

Eugenie can now be seen driving an $11,000 Nissan convertible - the same model owned by the likes of political journalist Andrew Marry, Vanessa Feltz and Eric Clapton.
