Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ross McCall have ended their engagement. "The Ghost Whisperer" star and the "Band Of Brothers" actor - who got engaged in November 2007 after two years together - have stunned friends and family with their decision to separate.
A source close to the couple said: "They broke up over the holidays and have ended their engagement."
"They're both really sad about this. Even their friends are surprised, they seemed really happy. Everyone just wants the best for both of them."
Rumors that Jennifer, 29, and 32-year-old Ross' relationship was in trouble first emerged last summer when it was claimed the couple had postponed their wedding.
A friend of Jennifer's said: "Things aren't great between them. It's hard because he's filming in New Mexico and she's in Los Angeles. The relationship is strained and their wedding won't happen anytime soon."
Jennifer had previously ruled out a summer wedding saying didn't want to be "a sweaty bride," and revealed she was looking forward to a "small, private, romantic and wonderful" ceremony.
