The mother of Kate Middleton, the girlfriend of Britain's Prince William, fears they will never marry. Despite Kate insisting she is "not bothered" that the prince has still not proposed after six years together, her mom Carole is said to be worried that she will never see her daughter walk down the aisle with William.
A source close to the former air hostess is quoted by Britain's The Daily Mail newspaper as saying: "Carole is very concerned that it might not happen. She was at a social event recently and Kate and William came up in conversation. Carole said, 'Of course, we just don't know what Kate's going to do now.'"
"The feeling is very much that there might not be a wedding at all."
Kate - who has not been invited to join the royal family for celebrations this Christmas - is currently working for her parents' party planning business and is said to not have much time to see William.
However, the source added: "Carole is very concerned about Kate's position."
"She said Kate can't do a normal day job because she gets so much attention from photographers every time she goes to work. The truth is, Kate's living a pretty boring existence working at her parents' business and keeping a low profile, which is what William has asked her to do."
The couple were widely rumored to be planning to announce their engagement early next year, with several dates already being considered for their wedding.
However, William, 26, has just announced plans to sign up for seven-and-a-half years service in the RAF, throwing a potential wedding into jeopardy.
