Tom Cruise failed to attend his son's first movie premiere. The actor decided against going to the "Seven Pounds" premiere in Los Angeles - which features 13-year-old Connor's big screen debut alongside Tom's close friend Will Smith - in order to continue promoting his own movie "Valkyrie" in New York, much to the shock of friends.
A source is quoted on website MSNBC as saying: "It comes as such a surprise. When Connor was filming 'Seven Pounds' Tom was so excited and proud of him."
"It's sad Tom didn't fly out for the evening. He could have missed one night of publicity to support Connor and Will."
Last year, Tom showed his support for Will by flying from Los Angeles to New York and back for the premiere of the actor's movie "I Am Legend."
Meanwhile, Tom has revealed he and wife Katie Holmes have been celebrating her 30th birthday - which is Thursday - all week.
He told KIIS-FM host Ryan Seacrest: "I've got some things planned. I've been kind of surprising her throughout the week with things."
"I like romance. You've got to think about these things. You've got to know the right thing and pay attention throughout the year and just know your lady."
