P. Diddy reportedly threw a "hissy fit" because he didn't like his all-white themed birthday party.

The rapper - who turned 39 last Tuesday - splashed out on a lavish bash at New York's Mansion nightclub later in the week but insisted the decor was scrapped at the last minute after the all-white room - designed in just 12 hours - failed to meet his expectations.

A source revealed to the New York Post newspaper: "The designer was given a budget of $7,000 and 12 hours to create an all-white decor, including 1,000 white roses, blow-ups of Diddy and U.S. President-elect Barack Obama, and $2,000 of white fabric."

"Diddy declared it dreadful and went into a major hissy fit, screaming, 'Show me the receipts!' and 'Get the money back!' to his assistant. Then he began ripping the fabric off the walls saying he hated it. He berated the poor young decorator to the point that the guy gave back $2,000 of the money he had spent."

Guests at the party included "Tropic Thunder" star Ben Stiller, singers Ne-Yo, Cassie and Keyshia Cole and Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz.

Diddy - real name Sean Combs - postponed his party because of the U.S. Presidential election.

He later revealed the historic result, in which Obama was chosen to become America's first African-American President, had reduced him to tears.

Diddy is quoted as saying: "I was straight up crying. I was with my kids. It was a beautiful thing. I just thank God my prayers were answered."

"I don't know why God blessed me by having my birthday on November 4, but we're here to celebrate 80 percent of Obama being elected and 20 percent my birthday."
