Usher had crowds raving on Tuesday night when the R&B singer made his grand debut performance on Broadway's "Chicago." The star of the night-who plays Billy Flynn in the Broadway hit-was dazzling on stage when a cell phone ring suddenly abruptly interrupted his performance, but the show eventually went on.
According to MTV.com, an audience member had broken the theatre rules and left their cell phone on when-in the middle of Usher's performance-it began playing Cassie's "Me & U" ringtone.
Other than the minor disturbance, Usher's performance was the talk of the night. Songs like "All I Care About" and "Razzle Dazzle" demonstrated the artist's soulful voice and quick dance moves. Celebrities alike were amazed at the singer's "effortless" theatrical debut.
After the show, Usher's performance was praised by many celebrities who had come out to see the show including Oprah Winfrey's best friend, Gayle King, Gabrielle Union, Penelope Cruz, Rosie Perez, Jill Marie Jones and music giant, Clive Davis.
"I got a great response my first night," gleamed Usher. "I'm happy I could share this moment with so many great people. Of course, you have opening-night jitters on anything you do, especially Broadway."
Both Broadway veteran, Bianca Marroquin, who plays Roxie Hart in the Broadway play, and "Idlewood" director, Barber, say they were "impressed" at the artist's performance.
"He was very convincing. I love what Usher brings with his vocals," said Barber.
"We're so impressed, so proud, we can't wait to see what else he's gonna do," added Marroquin.
