Former catwalk queen Tyra Banks is taking a stance on the fashion industries obsession with stick-thin models.
The host of "The Tyra Banks Show" and "America's Next Top Model" says that she was inspired by designer John-Paul Gaultier's decision to open his recent show with a plus-size model.
To prove her point that you don't have to be thin to be beautiful, Banks hosted a modeling competition on her daytime talk show that was designed for plus size models.
Each contestant weighed in at a minimum 200 pounds.
The popular TV personality told the audience, "You do not have to be super stick skinny in order to model."
The competition was judged by plus-size model Mia Tyler, actor Josh Morrow and "American Idol" winner Ruben Studdard.
The winner, Marguerite Brown, weighed in at 218 pounds and won a photo spread with Bombshell magazine, a $1000 shopping spree and a year long modeling contract with Wilhelmina Models.
