Sir Mick Jagger is releasing a duet with John Lennon. The song - entitled 'Too Many Cooks (Spoil the Soup)' - was recorded by the legendary musicians over 30 years ago and will feature on Jagger's new compilation album 'The Very Best of Mick Jagger.'

The track features Jagger on vocals, the late Lennon on guitar and Lennon's fellow Beatle Ringo Starr on drums. It was recorded in Los Angeles in 1973 and was produced by Lennon.

The song never received a public release at the time, but fetched $2,800 at a London auction in 2003. A source said: "Apparently Mick had forgotten about the song for a number of years."

"But thanks to the auction some people got to hear it again and it sounded good."

The Rolling Stones frontman's 17-track 'Best of.' album also includes duets with Bono and David Bowie and is set for release in October.
