Coming out of the closet was just what the doctor ordered for "Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight.

The television actor was forced to admit his homosexuality publicly when his co-star, Isaiah Washington, used an anti-gay slur against him during an on-set argument. The issue raised the profile of T.R., Isaiah and the hit show. However, there were also some personal issues for T.R to sort through.

He told the latest issue of The Advocate magazine, a publication specifically for homosexuals, "I remember saying to someone when I got one of those 'don't do it' [comments] - I just remember hearing my voice being calm and saying, 'No, it's going happen. It's going to happen. I'm just letting you know.' I made the decision to make a statement. I could have not [spoken up]. I could have retreated. But I'm definitely happy I made the decision."

T.R. revealed his sexual preference via a statement in PEOPLE magazine. He has since talked about his hardships with other gay icons such as Ellen DeGeneres.

When Isaiah Washington spat those ugly words at TR, he meant it as hateful, but it gave both of them a chance to see love as love. Mr. Washington needed to see how ugly his thoughts and deeds were perceived publicly. Mr Knight just needed to be free to love without self-loathing. We should all learn something from this.

T. R. Knight should not use another person to officially come out of the closet. Before the wrongful incident, I thought, maybe T. R. Knight was gay, but I did not hold that against him, but I do hold his lying about Washington called him a ".". I am sure he was referred to as "gay" growing up and especially in high school. Patrick Dempsey should take some of the blame for what has happened. I think, because who Washington is -is the reason he was fired. Disney must realize that it has lost a number of viewers because of its action.
