Tom Cruise is set to perform a Scientology wedding for a friend, it has been reported. The "War Of The Worlds" star, who is at the highest level of Scientology, will conduct James Packer's wedding on France's Cote d'Azur on Wednesday, according to Women's Wear Daily magazine.
The wealthy Australian heir - who is marrying model-turned-singer Erica Baxter - is one of the Church of Scientology's richest benefactors after he inherited a $6.5 billion fortune when his father, Kerry Packer, died last year. Packer is believed to have booked out Grand Hotel du Cap-Ferrat and the Hotel du Cap-Eden Roc for wedding guests.
Meanwhile, Cruise has reignited controversy surrounding his film about German WWII officer Count Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg. The 44-year-old actor was seen leaving Berlin's Scientology HQ at midnight with his wife Katie Holmes, renewing rumors he plans to "inject" Scientology propaganda into the film.
Cruise will play the nobleman - who tried and failed to kill Adolf Hitler - in the movie due to be filmed in Berlin this summer. Relatives of Schenk von Stauffenberg have already expressed their worries about propaganda being involved in the film.
