Tom Cruise sat again at Oprah Winfrey's couch of her syndicated show but no antics or terrifying movements were done by the actor during its taping Thursday.

Based on comments by audience members collated by newsday.com, Cruise's demeanor during the shoot was noticeably subdued.

It was a very different Cruise that people saw the last time he guested on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 2005 when he repeatedly jumped on the couch while professing his love for now wife Katie Holmes.

Audience members even said that during breaks from the taping Thursday, the actor even talked to some of them.

Cruise's appearance in the syndicated show was one part of a two-day tribute given to him by Winfrey as he celebrates 25 years of moviemaking.

The first part to be aired Friday shows Cruise being interviewed at his home in Telluride, Colorado by Winfrey.

The taped guesting will be aired Monday.

Cruise came for the taping with wife Holmes and their two-year old daughter Suri.
